yarmouthfireYARMOUTH – Yarmouth Firefighters are thanking local businesses and the community for helping donate to a number of charities during their first “Homeless for the Holidays” campaign last weekend.

For over 100 hours, firefighters camped out at Our Lady of the Highway Church to collect donated Toys for Tots, food for the Yarmouth Food Pantry and Clothing for Katelynn’s Closet.

Event organizer, Firefighter Adam Riker, was extremely pleased with the level of support from the volunteers and was humbled by the outpouring of goodwill from the citizens and businesses of Yarmouth.

“With so many worthwhile causes to donate to I am without words to describe how I feel about the community and businesses support, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you is all I can say”, said Riker.

“I am very proud to serve my community of Yarmouth.”

Firefighters collected 3,196 items with retail value of $7190.00 for the Yarmouth Food Pantry

Approximately $4000.00 worth of children’s clothing was donated to Katelynn’s closets.

One thousand four hundred toys were donated to Toys for Tots.

In addition, the firefighters collected $5925.50 in cash/checks which will be divided equally between the three organizations and the clothing donated that does meet Katelynn’s Closet criteria was donated to the Salvation Army.

Yarmouth Firefighters are looking forward to making this a yearly tradition.
