Yarmouth Garden Club Offering High School Scholarships

YARMOUTH – The Garden Club of Yarmouth is offering up to $3,000 in scholarship to a graduating high school student.

The scholarship will also be available to those currently enrolled in a formal program of study such as agriculture, conservation, environmental sciences, horticulture, landscape design, aquaculture, forestry or a related field.

The applicants may attend any of the schools in the area.

The scholarship will be awarded after a successful first semester.

A $500 “Toolship” award is also available to a student to start his/her own career in landscaping or other related endeavors mentioned.

The applicant may utilize a form at their school or available on the Garden Club’s website at gardenclubofyarmouth.org.

Preference is given to Yarmouth residents and the deadline to apply is April 15.

The Garden Club’s mission is to stimulate interest in gardening, to encourage the conservation of natural resources and to assist in the beautification of the Town of Yarmouth.

The club was started in the winter of 1971-72, when a number of Yarmouth women, some of whom had garden club experience, joined together and held their first organizational meeting at Yarmouth Town Hall in March 1972.
