SOUTH YARMOUTH – An armed suspect is in custody today in Yarmouth, following an incident that set off a manhunt in South Yarmouth.

25 year old Daniel Scobie of South Yarmouth was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot a man in a dispute this morning.

A man called police this morning to report the incident after he went to Scobie’s residence at 29 Venus Road in South Yarmouth.

Police say he attempted to retrieve tools from a fired employee of a plumbing company in Osterville and said the suspect showed a hand gun and threatened to shoot him before going back into the residence.

The man who reported the incident followed the suspect to the Yarmouth Shopping Plaza and notified police.

Yarmouth Police, along with the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team and the State Police arrived to search for Scobie.

A Yarmouth Police detective saw the suspect leave a residence on Long Pond Drive and Scobie ran off in the direction of Forest Road and was taken into custody.

Scobie told police that the handgun was just a replica and it was found in the woods behind the shopping plaza in the area of Auto Zone.

Scobie was taken to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and was arraigned in Barnstable District Court this afternoon.
