Special Town Meeting Takes up D-Y School Budget Tonight

moneyYARMOUTH – Voters in Yarmouth head to Special Town Meeting tonight to vote on six articles; most notably whether or not to fund the shortfall in the proposed Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School budget.

Yarmouth Selectmen voted last week recommending against funding the budget gap, which is slightly over $212,000.

Brian Carey, the chairman of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District Committee, said he plans to attend tonight’s meeting to urge funding of the shortfall.

The town of Dennis voted in the spring to fund their portion of the budget.

Special Town Meeting gets underway at 6:30 at Mattacheese Middle School.

If voters choose not to fund the gap, a joint town meeting between Yarmouth and Dennis would be required.
