Yarmouth Ups Enforcement on Fireworks

police carYARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Police Department will have an increased presence on the Fourth of July, and they’re asking residents to do their part to keep the town safe.

Like most towns, Yarmouth reports a large spike in illegal firework use around the Fourth of July.

Deputy Chief Steven Xiarhos said that presents a safety danger for residents. Police will be stepping up enforcement for illegal fireworks use over the holiday weekend.

Xiarhos added that anybody who needs a ride home from a Yarmouth bar or restaurant this weekend can get a free ride from town taxi.

That’s a result of the department’s Operation Safe Ride home initiative.
