FALMOUTH – A proposed YMCA facility in Falmouth to serve Falmouth, Bourne and Mashpee has taken another step forward.
The organization recently shared the results of a market feasibility study with the Falmouth Economic Development and Industrial Corporation.
600 families were surveyed for the study, and according to YMCA of Cape Cod, the results show overwhelming community support, with some already suggesting amenities and services for the proposed facility.
“The number one thing that people want in the community is a pool, and affordable child care, and programs for teenagers during after school hours and healthy living activities to support living a healthy lifestyle,” said Stacie Peugh, YMCA of Cape Cod CEO.
With the project potentially costing upwards of $20 million, the next step in the process will to be conduct a fundraising feasibility study.
The EDIC has also offered help to the organization find land for the facility, and also to help navigate the process, and perhaps contributing funds to make the proposal a reality.
