Young Mashpee Crash Victim Identified

MASHPEE – Police in Mashpee have identified the young boy who was struck and killed by a pickup truck Friday night.

14-month-old Camden Ahanu Hendricks died shortly after being hit by the vehicle on Coombs Lane. Funeral services and burial were planned for Wednesday.

Camden was known as “Camo” by family and friends.

“Camo was a smiling, happy-go-lucky little boy who brought joy and happiness with his contagious smile to all during the short time he was here,” his obituary read. “He loved to be outside or playing pass with the ball with family. He loved his music, once he heard it he would dance. He will be forever loved and in the hearts of his family. He will be dearly missed.”

At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver, a family friend. Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline said the investigation is still ongoing.

The young boy was a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

“Whenever the life of a beloved Tribal Citizen is lost, it is heartbreaking. The loss of a precious baby is especially painful. The Tribal community will rally around the family and surround them with love and support. I ask for prayers and grace as we mourn for the family — our family,” said Chairman Cedric Cromwell in a statement released over the weekend.
