Sandwich High School Class of 2014’s Margaret Garrahan, a Loyola University Maryland freshman, was named the Corvias Patriot League Women’s Diver of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday. Garrahan swept the diving titles on Saturday against conference-foe Lehigh at Loyola’s Mangione Pool at the Fitness and Aquatics Center. The East Sandwich native claimed the 1-meter boards with a score of 199.87 to beat teammate Katie Ray (183.74). In the 3-meter competition, Garrahan won with a point total of 215.32.This marks the first career player of the week accolade for Garrahan, while it’s also the first for the Greyhounds’ women’s team this season.

Sandwich High School Class of 2012’s Devin Green has been named a captain of the Stonehill College men’s lacrosse team for the 2015 season. A senior, Green has turned in three consecutive outstanding seasons for the and last season was named a PCLL All-Conference 1st team attack man after pouring in his third straight 16-goal season. Green is averaging 2.97 points per game in his three seasons for the Stonehill laxmen.

Sandwich High School Class of 2013’s Amanda Mark recently completed her second season running for the Salem State women’s cross country team. Mark came in 10th place on October 18, 2014 in the Western New England Golden Bear Invitational (5k) and followed that up with another 10th place finish on November 1, 2014 in the MASCAC/Alliance Championships.

Sturgis Charter School Class of 2011’s Kelsey Lynch has been enjoying a fine senior season swimming for the University of Rhode Island. She came in 6th in 1000yd freestyle (11:21.38) versus Bryant University; 18th in 500yd freestyle (5:18.65), 24th in 200yd freestyle (2:01.88), 5th in 1000yd freestyle (10:51.48), 14th in 200yd freestyle relay (1:44.22) and 5th in the 400yd freestyle relay (3:39.90) at the Harold Anderson Invitational; 4th in 400m freestyle (4:48.41) at Providence; 6th in 500yd freestyle (5:32.11) against UNH; 5th in 500yd freestyle (5:28.94) at the Ed Golden Invitiational; 7th in 1000yd freestyle (11:12.23), 9th in 200yd backstroke (2:19.98), and 7th in the 200yd freestyle relay (1:47.54) against the UMaine Black Bears. A journalism major, Lynch swam in Cape Cod Swim Club for 10 years and earned Comeback of the Year award her senior year. Ranked in the top 10 in New England several times, Lynch is the daughter of Kathleen and Thomas Lynch of Sandwich.

Barnstable High School Class of 2013’s Manny Perry is now in the midst of his sophomore year at Southern Maine Community College where he plays guard for the men’s basketball team. Perry, a two-sport star for the Red Raiders, is shooting 50% from three-point land and 50% from the free throw line while averaging 2.4 points per game. He is the son of Duke and Regina Perry of Osterville.

North Falmouth native Kenna Melkonian, also a former top swimmer for the Cape Cod Swim Club in Pocasset, is currently a sophomore on the women’s swim and diving team at the University of Rhode Island. Melkonian took 4th in the 200yd breaststroke (2:35.26) and 5th in the 100yd breaststroke (1:12.06)  against Bryant University; 8th in the 100yd breaststroke (1:09.14), 3rd in 200yd breaststroke (2:26.18),10th in 400yd medley relay (4:05.36) and 14th in the 200yd freestyle relay (1:44.22) at the Harold Anderson Invitational; 5th in 50m breaststroke (37.96) and 5th in the100m breaststroke (1:22.55) against Providence; 5th in 100yd breaststroke (1:11.01), 4th in 200yd breaststroke (2:32.57) and 4th in the 200yd medley relay (1:51.82) at the Ed Golden Invitiational; 5th in 100yd breaststroke (1:10.16) and 4th in the 200yd breaststroke (2:28.78) against Maine. A marketing major, she is the daughter of Harry Melkonian of North Falmouth.

East Falmouth native Alyson Skelly, a graduate of the St. Mark’s School in Southborough, enjoyed a fine freshman season at Hamilton College playing for the women’s field hockey team. Skelly started in all 16 games for the Hamiltonians as a defenseman.

Brie Campbell Nova University

Sandwich High School Class of 2012’s Brie Campbell has been competing heavily as a member of the Nova Southeastern University women’s swimming and diving team in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. A junior, Campbell has already turned in personal best times of 2:43.55 in the 200 breast stroke, 5:27.40 in the 500 freestyle, 10:53.92 in the 1000 freestyle and 18:12.58 in the 1,650 freestyle. A former three-sport standout for the Blue Knights, Campbell swam under Tony Compton at Sandwich High School and Ron Zuwallack at Cape Cod  Swim Club. She was the the Lu Melkonian Award Winner and 2nd high point winner her senior year. She also lettered in cross country and tennis. An athletic training major, Campbell is the daughter of Douglas and Deborah Campbell of East Sandwich.

Barnstable High School Class of 2013’s Colin Meade helped lead the Tufts University Jumbos to a 6-3 season this fall in co-ed sailing. Meade was a former Red Raider sailing captain under coach Andrew Nugnes. In the fall, 18 colleges and universities competed in the prestigious Sherman Hoyt Trophy races, which included a Tufts team comprised of senior and captain Will Haeger (Lake Forest, IL) skippering, and senior Paula Grasberger (Salem, MA) crewing, for races 1-6 and 9-12, and sophomore Colin Meade (Hyannis, MA) crewing for races 7-8, started for A division and finished in third place in their respective division.  Captains and seniors David Liebenberg (Livermore, CA) skippering, Kathleen Kwasniak (Houston, TX) crewing, sailed for B division.  Overall, Tufts finished in an impressive 5th place.

Barnstable High graduate Stephanie Tuepker recently completed her senior season playing for the women’s volleyball team at Bridgewater State University. Tuepker was a 2009 graduate of BHS. Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School graduate Clara Goncalves, a sophomore at Bridgewater State, also enjoyed a fine season for the 18-19 Bears, as did Bourne High School graduate Samantha Fasoli, a sophomore libero for BSU.

2011 Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School graduate Justin Clark is nearing the end of a four-year collegiate basketball career playing guard for the Bridgewater State Bears. Averaging 3.3 points per game, Clark has seen action in all of the Bears’ games this season.

BSU Womens Track2011 Barnstable High School graduate Kaitlin Delaney, a former Red Raider track & field captain, is preparing for her final collegiate season this spring as a long-distance runner for the Bridgewater State Bears. Joining Centerville native Delaney is 2014 Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School graduate Tori O’Dea. Tori is a hurdler and sprinter for the Bears and is in her freshman year at the school. She hails from South Dennis.

Barnstable High graduate James Burke (Class of 2013) was named to the NESCAC All-Academic team at Middlebury College last fall after maintaining a 4.0 GPA for his first three semesters at Middlebury College. Burke was a three-sport man at Barnstable High where he played football, basketball and baseball and he is playing wide receiver for Middlebury.
