Smith College field hockey senior captain Jenny Estes – a Falmouth native and former Falmouth High Clipper standout — was named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference team for the first time in her career last month. Estes finished the regular season ninth in the conference in game-winning goals with a team-best two. She ended her senior campaign fourth on the squad in both points (seven) and goals (three). Estes tallied a pair of goals in Smith’s 4-2 win over non-conference foe Thomas College on Sept. 6 and later scored the game-winner in Smith’s 3-2 win over Babson College on Oct. 11. The overtime victory was the first for the Pioneers over the Beavers since 2006. Smith finished the fall at 5-13 overall and 2-6 in the conference. Estes is the older sister of Smith teammate Kat Estes, also a Falmouth High graduate and a junior. Kat was named to the NEWMAC All-Academic Team this fall.
East Sandwich native Luke Catarius recently wrapped up another fine football season for the Princeton Tigers. A sophomore linebacker, Catarius played a majority of time on special teams and had three tackles, including solo stops against both Davidson and Harvard. In 2013, he

moved into the linebacker rotation as a freshman and helped Princeton win 10th Ivy League title in program history, and first since 2006 season. A 2013 graduate of Boston College High, Catarius was the 2012 Boston Herald Division I Player of the Year and was named to both the Boston Herald and Patriot Ledger all-scholastic teams, He was also selected to the ESPN Boston all-state team, was a Catholic Conference all-star and led the Eagles to two conference titles and the 2011 Massachusetts state title. He had a career-high 129 tackles as a junior and also led BC High in tackles his sophomore season, earning him the scholar-athlete award. He is the son of Stephen and Michelle Catarius of East Sandwich.
West Barnstable native Hayden Jenkins, a 2013 graduate of the Northfield Mount Hermon School, is currently a sophomore midfielder playing mens’ lacrosse at the University of Vermont. Jenkins captained the NMH boys’ lacrosse team his senior year and led the team with 29 goals and 8 assists in addition to playing football and ice hockey. He appeared in 10 games for the Catamounts last spring as a freshman and he is the son of Tom and Christine Jenkins of West Barnstable.
Osterville brothers Will and Alec Morrison are both currently enjoying collegiate careers in lacrosse and baseball, respectively. Both Morrisons graduated from the Salisbury School in Connecticut where they played multiple sports. Alec is a sophomore lefthanded pitcher at Holy Cross and has yet to declare a major while Will is a sophomore at Wheaton College where he plays lacrosse. Alec helped pitch the Barnstable Post 206 American Legion team to its first state championship title in 2012. The boys are the sons of Reed Morrison and Hope Van der Wolk of Osterville.
Former Barnstable High School three-sport athlete and Old Colony League all-star in baseball Will Toffey of Barnstable village has been listed as a freshman infielder for the top-ranked Vanderbilt University baseball team. A 2014 graduate of The Salisbury School (CT), Toffey was drafted in the 23rd round (692nd overall pick) in June by the New York Yankees in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Toffey played shortstop for the 2012 Barnstable Post 206 American Legion state champions and was scouted heavily that summer by New York Yankees Northeast Area Scout Matt Hyde. He is the son of John J. Toffey IV and Irene T. Toffey of Barnstable Village.
2014 Sandwich High School graduate Marc Petersen – who was a two-way captain for head coach Bill Luette’s Blue Knights – recently completed his freshman season at Westfield State where he’s listed as a 205-lb. linebacker for the Owls.
Katie McKenna – a former Sandwich Blue knight – is playing soccer for the Babson Beavers.

2013 Sandwich High graduate Katie McKenna just completed her sophomore season for the Babson College women’s soccer team. The daughter of former Barnstable High School soccer and baseball standout Ed McKenna, Katie collected two assists this season for the Beavers. She appeared in 11 games as a first-year player, making five starts and finished the campaign with two goals and one assist for five points. Katie tallied her first collegiate goal in a 4-0 victory over Bryn Mawr on September 8, 2013 and recorded the game-winning goal in a 4-0 win over Smith on September 28, 2013. She made her collegiate debut in a 3-2 triumph over St. John Fisher on August 30, 2013.
East Sandwich’s Tony Tully, a former two-time captain and team MVP for the Blue Knights, is a redshirt sophomore wide receiver for the University of Connecticut Huskies football team. He joined the Huskies in 2013 as a freshman walk-on and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic team. He didn’t see any playing time this season but hopes to break into the starting lineup in the fall of 2015.
BC High grad Jimmy Moynahan had a fine season at running back for the Washington & Lee Generals this fall. Jimmy hails from East Sandwich, MA.

Boston College High School graduate and Sandwich native Jimmy Moynhan was a sophomore running back for the Washington and Lee University football Generals this fall and collected 121 yards rushing in 10 games played. Moynahan lettered at Washington and Lee during his rookie season in 2012 when he played in 10 games, rushing 13 times for 60 yards and one touchdown. He also totaled five tackles on special teams and carried the ball eight times for 35 yards and a touchdown, and logged one tackle in a 42-23 win over Shenandoah in the regular-season finale. He notched two tackles in a 45-42 four-overtime win over Hampden-Sydney (11/3) to win the ODAC title. Moynahan earned three letters in football and two in lacrosse for the BC High Eagles, helped the football squad win a Div. 1 Massachusetts State Football Championship and received the Ted Lyons Scholar-Athlete Award for his efforts. He is the son of Mary Alice Moynahan who played field hockey at Holy Cross and he is a chemistry major.
Colin and Paxton Caristi are both members in good standing of the Coker College mens’ lacrosse team in Hartsville, South Carolina. The twin brothers played football and lacrosse at Sandwich High School and are now sophomores playing for the Cobras down south. They are the sons of Marya and Jason Caristi of Sandwich.
West Barnstable native Nik Nugnes is now a freshman at the University of Maine after matriculating to the Black Bears ice hockey squad last semester. A graduate of the Cardigan Mountain School in New Hampshire, Nugnes is a freshman goalie studying finance. Nugnes played for the Connecticut Oilers during the first half of the 2013-14 season and in 24 games, finished 13-6-0 with a 2.55 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. He is the son of Jennifer and Michael Nugnes of West Barnstable.
Two-time Old Colony League All-Star wrestler C.J. Botello is busy enjoying his freshman year at Norwich University where he is currently on the Cadets’ wrestling team. A Mashpee native, Botello graduated from Barnstable High School earlier this year and has been on the fast track to success ever since. A four-time varsity letterman on the Red Raider mats, Botello was one of nine two-time captains in the history of the program. He is one of five brothers who are all top-shelf wrestlers or martial arts competitors and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Botello of Mashpee.
