LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — The Washington Redskins have suffered a huge blow to their playoff hopes.

Cam Newton passed for 300 yards and tossed a pair of TD passes and the Carolina Panthers upset the Redskins 26-15 to drop Washington to 7-6-1 and on the outside of the NFC wild card picture.

The Panthers improved to 6-8, which as of this point, is a disappointing season for a team that made the Super Bowl just one year ago.

The Redskins take on the struggling Chicago Bears next week at Soldier’s Field in Chicago.
