CBD is short for cannabidiol, a compound found in cannabis. Cannabis is a family of plants that contain both hemp and marijuana. Both hemp and marijuana contain over 100 compounds like CBD, but the big difference is that marijuana has one compound that hemp does not – THC. THC is the compound that makes you high.
CBD products that are made from the marijuana plant do contain THC and will, therefore, result in a high, but CBD products made from natural hemp do not contain enough THC to cause any kind of high. The legal limit of THC that a hemp plant can have is .3 percent (anything over that is legally considered marijuana).
