Looking for a Unique Gift? Look No Further! Vintage & Vines Has You Covered

The holidays will soon be fast upon us. No doubt you’ve already seen the decorations for sale at local stores. So, it’s never too soon to begin thinking about those special gifts for your friends and family.

Lynda Gemme, owner of Vintage & Vines in East Dennis, carries a unique and interesting variety of home and garden décor gifts to please even that person who has just about everything.

“I like to carry gift items that are more creative and memorable, and not just beachy things,” said Gemme. “People know they can find something here, even at the last minute. I have great hostess gifts. For showers, I help them put together a perfect shower gift.”

Gemme always shops different vendors to keep her stock fresh. She travels from as near as Fairhaven to as far as Atlanta to find those unique items that her clients will love. “I don’t like to keep buying the same thing over and over unless people ask for it. I like new things. I typically buy things that I would put in my own home. If I wouldn’t put it in my own home, I won’t buy it,” Gemme said.

Of course, she said, if there’s something in particular that a client once saw in her store and must have it, she will order it for them. She also carries the work of a fixed number of locally-known artists on consignment.

“I have Chris Baker, who creates whales and mermaids with a chainsaw. He’ll do custom sizes and the wood is pine. (His pieces) are absolutely amazing,” she said.

Holly Shaker was well-known on the Cape for her folk art, Gemme said. “She took a bit of a break from it, and is now back and doing more beach scenes. Shaker’s work was previously displayed at the Heritage Museum in Sandwich.”

Gemme also carries prints by the late Ginny Audino. Audino was a juried and award-winning artist from Yarmouth Port who recently passed away. Even into her 90s, she painted and continued to perfect her craft to the delight of those who were fortunate enough to know her work.

Creative talent runs in the family, too. “My sister-in-law makes stained-glass ornaments, both Christmas and sea-themed. She also makes unusual garden bird feeders, which are painted tea cups on top of white wooden posts. You can put bird seed in them or just fill them with water for the birds,” she said.

Any of the works of these talented artists make original and wonderful gifts that will be sure to bring a smile to the face of the person receiving it. Gemme carries so much more in her shop. The only real way to appreciate the variety is to see for yourself the treasures that can be found at Vintage & Vines. While you’re there, check out the special sales for Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 10 and 11!

Vintage and Vines is located at 1661 Route 6A, East Dennis, and you can reach the store at 508-385-5328.
