– Barnstable Police report that on Sunday, members of the Street Crime Unit (SCU) were on patrol in the east end of Hyannis. At 2:30 p.m., a suspicious vehicle was located in the area of 10 Stuart Street in Hyannis. The vehicle had a lone male sitting in the passenger seat. Further investigation revealed the male subject, later identified as Jay E Blalock, 44, of Dorchester, MA (right), was found in possession of approximately 5 ounces of marijuana in a large heat sealed bag. Blalock initially gave SCU members a false name. The vehicle he was sitting in was registered to a 44-year-old female from Dedham, MA. The female was observed walking toward the parked vehicle and was encountered by SCU members.

She was found in possession of a backpack which contained marijuana, individually packaged THC cannabis candies, and small containers of hashish. Also found in the backpack was $3,520 in US currency. The female said she was a medical marijuana user and produced a valid Mass ID card. Found in the trunk of her vehicle were an additional 8.5 ounces of individually packaged marijuana, drug packing material and digital scale. The female only knew her passenger’s first name as “Jay” and stated he lived in Dorchester. Further investigation revealed Blalock is a convicted drug dealer with an extensive criminal history involving the distribution of narcotics. He also had an outstanding warrant for probation violation from the State of Alabama.

Both the female and Blalock were arrested and charged with the following:

Jay Blalock:
Possession of class D marijuana with intent to distribute (subsequent offense)
Conspiracy to violate the narcotics laws
Fugitive from Justice-Alabama

XX female:
