6th annual Cape Cod White Ribbon Day Scheduled for March 1st

YARMOUTH – The 6th annual Cape Cod White Ribbon Day will take place on March 1st, serving as a call for men and boys to take action against domestic violence.

Independence House, Yarmouth Police and the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office are collaborating on the annual event at Irish Village where men will pledge not to commit violence against women and children.

Guest speakers at the free event include District Attorney Michael O’Keefe, Barnstable County Sheriff James Cummings, U.S. Senate Candidate Beth Lindstrom, and Dennis-Rarmouth Regional High School Principal Tony Morrison.

Men of all ages are encouraged to attend the event which creates awareness among the males in our community about the issue of men’s violence against women and gender based violence, along with taking action to be part of the solution.

The White Ribbon Campaign began in 1991 after 14 female students were targeted because of their gender and killed by a gunman at the University of Montreal.

The Cape event will take place from 9 AM through 11 at the Irish Village in South Yarmouth.
