9/11 remembrance ceremonies slated for Tuesday

Tuesday will mark the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA. Local agencies will be holding ceremonies on Tuesday. CWN will update this list as notices come in, so please check back.

PROVINCETOWN – Provincetown Police and Fire will hold a 911 remembrance ceremony on Tuesday at 9 AM on Shankpainter Road in front of the police and fire stations.

BREWSTER – The Brewster Fire Department will be hosting our annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony at Fire Headquarters on Tuesday September 11 at 6:00 pm. The service will be held outside of the new fire department facility at 1671 Main Street.

The service is designed to honor first responders, civilian victims and their family members who were impacted by the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 in New York City, Washington D.C, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Pastor Rodney Dobbs of the Northside United Methodist Church will offer the memorial invocation. Retired U.S Navy Captain and current Brewster Select Board member Mary Chaffee will be the events keynote speaker.

Other participants will include the Brewster Police Department, Brewster Town officials, local Scout groups, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and other regional emergency service organizations. Musical performances will be provided by the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church Choir.

Please help us in honoring these American heroes by attending our annual memorial service.

CHATHAM – The Chatham Fire and Police Departments will be having a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at Chatham Fire Headquarters on Tuesday September 11th 2018 at 8:45 am. The ceremony is open to all who wish to attend.

HARWICH – The Harwich Fire Department will hold a brief ceremony on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in remembrance of the victims killed in The September 11, 2001 attacks.

The ceremony will be held in front of the Robert A. Peterson Firehouse. 175 Sisson Road at 10 AM. We ask that those attending assemble by 9:5 AM.

Light refreshments and coffee will be available immediately following the ceremony in the Robert Johnson Training Room.

Uniform of the day is Class B – Red Shirt.

DENNIS – The Dennis Fire Department will be holding a 9/11 Rembrance Ceremony on September 11th, 201 at 9 AM at Headquarters, 883 Main Street (Route 28) in West Dennis.

YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Fire Department would like to invite the public to YFD’s Annual 911 Memorial Service where we will honor the 343 FDNY Firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11/2001.

Date: 9/11/2018

Time: 9:45 AM assembly, Service begins exactly at 9:58

Location: Fire Station Three, 520 Buck Island Road, West Yarmouth, MA 02673

Service should last 45 minutes with light refreshments to follow.

BARNSTABLE (all villages): 8:15 AM The West Barnstable Fire Department participates with Cape Cod Community College in their ceremony by bringing their ladder truck and raising the flag.  Cape Cod Community College is located at 2240 Iyannough Road, West Barnstable.

8:30 AM The Cotuit Fire Department will start their September 11th Remembrance with Assembly at Cotuit Fire, followed by Apparatus roll out of bays to appropriate location in front of station at 8:55 AM.  At

9:00 AM all available Fire Department personnel and any guests assemble at attention in front of apparatus and maintain silence prior their program. The Cotuit Fire Department is located at 64 High Street, Cotuit.

9:45 AM The Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department will be holding a brief event in front of the Station 1 (1875 Falmouth Road, Centerville) 9/11 Memorial that includes a piece of steel from Tower 2 of the World Trade Center.  Their honor guard will be attending and light refreshments will be served following.  EVERYONE is welcome.

9:55 AM The Barnstable Fire Station will hold its traditional ceremony on Tuesday, September 11th at the Barnstable Fire Station, 3249 Main Street, Barnstable Village. This will include music by Trinity Christian Academy and special prayers and reflection by the Barnstable Fire Department.

4:00 PM A joint ceremony / service with the Barnstable Fire Station and St Mary’s Episcopal Church will begin at the fire station and then process 1/4 mile up Main Street to Tales of Cape Cod (St. Mary’s is under construction). The procession will be led by Dave Knauer on bagpipes, the Barnstable Police Honor Guard and Cape Cod Cub Scout Pack 54. A Barnstable Fire Department truck will also participate.  A reception to follow. All are invited.

SANDWICH – The Fire and Police 9/11 Ceremony will take place at Sandwich Hollows Golf Course this year as part of the Top Shot Charity Golf Tournament. The ceremony will begin at 830am at Sandwich Hollows in front of the clubhouse and includes the Sandwich Fire, Sandwich Police, American Legion and other invited guests. The ceremony is short but an important reminder of the sacrifices made by our first responders and military on 9/11.

FALMOUTH – The public is welcome to join us on Tuesday for a brief remembrance ceremony at 399 Main Street (Falmouth Fire-Rescue). The ceremony will begin at 9:55 AM.
