Alleged killer of Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon arraigned on new charges in slashing incident at Jail

BOURNE
– From Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office: Thomas Latanowich, currently facing a murder charge in last April’s shooting of Yarmouth K9 Sergeant Sean Gannon, was arraigned last week on a separate attack allegedly perpetrated while awaiting trial at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility in Bourne.

Latanowich, 30, is charged with assault to maim and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  He is alleged to have used an altered shaving razor to slice a two-inch cut on the face and left ear of another inmate.

The incident occurred on November 10th and reportedly began as a fist fight between the two inmates.  Latanowich is seen (on Sheriff’s video system) pulling a small, straight-edged razor from his waistband and using it to slash the other inmate.

Latanowich’s arraignment was conducted using a video conference link between the correctional facility and Falmouth District Court.
