Assaults, church shelter disturbance highlight slew of arrests Tuesday in Wareham

WAREHAMFrom Wareham Police: On Tuesday, March 19, Wareham Police officers made multiple arrests.

9:40 a.m. – A juvenile male was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon after threatening to stab another person with a pen.

1:15 p.m. – An off duty Wareham Police Officer observed a female being punched on High Street by a male subject. The male was placed under arrest; however no further information regarding these cases can be publicly released.

Andrew Darby

3:45 p.m. – Andrew Darby, 29, of Bourne, was arrested by detectives in connection with the “Wreckless Hobbies” smash and grab, He was charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, larceny from a building, and vandalism. He also faces charges in Bourne and Foxborough. (See full story here).

Shane Johnson

5:00 p.m. – Shane Johnson, 30, of no certain address was arrested by Officers Charles Pillsbury and Lorenzo Grosso at the Rosewood Motel. The officers had developed information that he would be there and knew of an active warrant for his arrest. He was placed in custody without incident.

Jamal Guinyard

7:10 p.m. – Jamal Guinyard, 33, of East Wareham was arrested by Officers Pillsbury and Grosso at his residence. Mr. Guinyard was taken into custody without incident as the result of an active warrant.

7:44 p.m. – Officers Nate Aronson, Eric Kanavos, and Eric Machado responded to the Church of the Nazarene on Rogers Avenue for a reported disturbance. This is the location of a shelter for homeless individuals. Upon arrival, officers observed three parties yelling at staff inside the building. As a result of the incident four subjects were placed under arrest. They were transported to Police headquarters for processing. At the station one of the arrested parties, Tiffany Sylvia, became very combative. During the process she grabbed an officer, and then attempted to bite other officers. While being escorted to a holding cell she began to fight again, causing Officer George Dionne to fall and strike his head on the floor. She then charged at the officer and a Taser was deployed to bring her under control. All four were held and are expected in Wareham District Court in the morning.

Caitlin Williams, 28, of Wareham, was charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

Tiffany Sylvia, 29, of Onset, was charged with assault and battery on a police officer (2 counts), disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and trespassing.

Stephen Parece, 33, of no certain address, was charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

Richard Paulino, 49, of no certain address, was charged with trespassing.

Rori Thomas

8:00 p.m. – Officers were alerted to a disturbance in the front parking lot of the Police station. An individual came into the station saying that the person they were riding with had slammed their head on the floor of car during an argument. Officers Pillsbury and Grosso went out front and placed Rori Thomas, 37, of Fall River under arrest for assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Kevin McAuliffe

11:25 p.m. – Officers Pillsbury and Grosso arrested Kevin McAuliffe, 55, of East Wareham, at Tobey Hospital following a disturbance call there. He is charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
