Barnstable Police execute narcotics search warrant in Centerville yielding drugs, firearms

CENTERVILLE – Barnstable Police report that on Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant at a Centerville home, which yielded large quantities of fentanyl, marijuana, cash and numerous items of drug packaging paraphernalia.

After a months-long narcotics investigation targeting 30-year-old Charles Curtis, 32-year-old Crystal Gentile, and 37-year-old Anthony Cuoco, all of Centerville, Det. Kelley was granted a search warrant for 20 Maddaket Lane in Centerville.  The search warrant was based upon extensive surveillance and undercover purchases of narcotics.

During the execution of the warrant, Detectives encountered Curtis in the living room of the home where he confronted police and then fled from the residence. After a brief foot chase and struggle, Detectives placed Curtis under arrest.

The search of the address resulted in locating and seizing approximately twenty-six (26) grams of fentanyl, approximately two pounds of marijuana, numerous digital scales, a “food saver” sealer with bags, and approximately eleven thousand dollars ($11,000.00) cash. The cash and a digital scale were secreted in a ceiling void in the basement of the residence where investigators discovered an unoccupied “stash” house utilized by Curtis for the purpose of packaging and redistributing narcotics.  

A second search warrant was obtained for 148 Hollow Rd. Cotuit and was executed by Detectives on May 18th. The second search warrant resulted in the seizure of fifteen thousand dollars cash ($15,000) approximately 4 grams of cocaine, digital scales, evidence of large scale drug packaging, numerous rounds of ammunition and several unsecured rifles and shotguns (Curtis has prior firearms convictions)

As a result of the first search warrant, Charles Curtis was arrested and charged with the following offenses: Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest.  Curtis is also charged with violating the terms of his Parole subsequent to two Oxycodone Trafficking investigations in 2008 and 2010. In 2011, Curtis began serving a 7-10 year sentence on these cases and was released on Parole in the fall of 2017. Additional charges may be sought as a result of the evidence located at 148 Hollow Rd.

Curtis was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Thursday where bail was established at $75,000.00.   Curtis is also being held on a Parole Violation.
