UPDATED: Barnstable Police investigating after dog reportedly bites owner, runs away and is later captured.

HYANNIS – Barnstable Police report that on Tuesday at approximately 12:50 AM, they responded to a 911 call reporting a dog bite at 40 Anthony Drive in Hyannis. Officers arrived on scene and located a 22-year-old Hyannis man suffering from bite wounds on both of his forearms. The dog was aggressive and was preventing access to the victim by Hyannis Rescue personnel. The dog eventually ran off and has yet to be located.

The dog is described as a medium sized pit bull, brown and white in color and wearing a collar. The name of the dog is Zeus. If anyone sees the dog, they are asked to notify the Barnstable Police Department by calling 508-775-0812 or dialing 911. They can also notify animal control at 508-790-6274. Do not attempt to approach or make contact with the dog in any way.

Update: Barnstable Police report that Zeus, the runaway pit bull who fled from a home on Anthony Dr. earlier today, has been located and captured by Animal Control.
