Benefit raises money for retired Hyannis Fire Lt. fighting cancer

HYANNIS – The Hyannis Fire Department held a “Shave Off” Saturday to raise money for retired Fire Lt. Rick Knowlton, who is battling lung cancer.

Dozens turned out at Hyannis Fire Headquarters to get a little — or a lot — off the top.

Knowlton retired in 2015 after 32 years of service to the village of Hyannis and Town of Barnstable.

Several hair stylists and barbers donated their time for the effort.

Specifically, thanks to Deb Michaelson Davis & @ Jenn Wood of Salon 6a & Spa, Adrienne Fontaine and Halley Hammond of Adrienne’s Hair Loft, Taylor Marie Millar of Salon 54, the guys of The Barber’s Lounge, and Tony Medeiros of Tony’s Barbers Shop.

Also, there was thanks to Karen of Sound Advice for providing music for the event; to Christine M White-Lewis and Emma from the Harwich Interact Club for providing face painting; to Chris Gallant for assisting in registration; to the Barnstable Police Department for providing police vehicles for the touch-a-truck; to B & B Pizza for donating some pies.
