Bicyclist struck and seriously injured in Wellfleet

WELLFLEET – A bicyclist was struck by a car and seriously injured in Wellfleet just after 2 PM Saturday afterrnoon. The crash happened on Route 6 at the Paine Hollow turnoff. The victim was rushed to Barnstable Municipal Airport to meet a MedFlight helicopter. Wellfleet Police are investigating the crash. Traffic was detoured around the scene until it was cleared.

Statement from Wellfleet Police: On November 2, 2019 at approximately 2″16 PM, the Wellfleet Police Department responded to multiple reports of a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle in the vicinity of Route 6 and Way #112. Upon arrival officers observed a male bicyclist in the roadway with injuries.

The Wellfleet, Eastham and Truro Fire Departments arrived on location and began to treat the victim. The victim was transported by MedFflight to a Boston hospital.

Route 6 in the area of the accident was closed for a short time however, vehicles were diverted onto Way #112 to keep traffic flowing.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Wellfleet Police Department.
