New details: Bicyclist cited by Yarmouth Police after Monday’s crash

YARMOUTH
– A car and bicycle collided on busy Route 28 by the Cape Sands Inn in Yarmouth around noon Monday. A Toyota Corolla had extensive damage to its windshield and roof from the impact which also appeared to have sheared the bike in two. A sneaker could be seen lying in the middle of Route 28. The bicyclist suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital. A MedFlight helicopter was requested to Barnstable Municipal Airport but was apparently not needed. Yarmouth Police are investigating the crash. Traffic was heavily backed up in the area and motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.
