HYANNIS PORT – A boater was rescued after their vessel reportedly capsized off Hyannis Port. Rescuers responded to an area just off the Hyannis Port Breakwater sometime after 9:30 Thuraday morning. The victim was pulled out of the water and brought to shore and evaluated for possible hypothermia. The Barnstable Harbormaster towed the capsized vessel into the Lewis Bay boat ramp.
Barnstable Police reported that On Thursday 05/14/20, several of their officers responded to the report of an overturned boat with a person in the water off of the Hyannis Port Breakwater. BPD, along with the Hyannis Fire Department and the Harbormaster, launched their boats in a joint effort to locate the person in the water. BPD marine boat operators Ptl. Matt Lounsbury and Ptl. Doug Palmer were able to locate the subject and retrieve him from the water. Thankfully the male party was uninjured and just a little cold. HYFD was then able to transport the male party to shore. A job well done and good team effort by all agencies involved.
