Bomb squad called to Harwich after grenade found

– On Sunday, the Harwich Police and Fire Departments responded to 16 Route 28 for a report of a grenade found inside a building.

Upon arrival, officials learned that the reporting party found the grenade mixed in with other items in a tote. As a precaution, businesses in the plaza were temporarily closed.

A State Trooper assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosive Section responded and deemed the grenade to be safe. The Trooper removed the grenade and the plaza was reopened.
