Bourne man facing B&E, larceny charges

James Conlon

BOURNE – Bourne Police report that earlier Tuesday, officers responded to Phillips Road for a report of a male that had been found in a shed while attempting to steal a bicycle. The caller indicated that they had encountered the male after they discovered several other bicycles missing from their rental property. The suspect was chased from the property by one of the tenants while officers responded to the area.
Officers, aided by an excellent description of the suspect provided by reporting parties, were able to locate the suspect, 36-year-old James Conlon, in the area of his residence on Lakewood Circle. He was found to be in possession of several items known to be stolen from around Sagamore Beach and Sandwich and was taken into custody without incident. Based upon the officer’s observations, a search warrant was sought and granted for Conlon’s residence. This resulted in the seizure of additional items known or believed to be stolen.

Conlon was charged with B&E Building Daytime for a Felony, Larceny Over $250, B&E Daytime for a Felony (Placing a Person in Fear), Attempting to Commit a Crime (Larceny Over $250), and Receiving Stolen Property Over $250. Additional charges may be sought as the investigation continues.

Bourne Police Detectives are currently working with the Sandwich Police Department to identify the owners of the property located. It is also believed that Conlon utilized Facebook and other online services to sell stolen items. Please contact the Bourne Police Detective Unit at 508-759-4420 EXT 211 if you have had any items stolen recently in areas of Sagamore Beach, Cape Cod Canal, and Sandwich (especially bicycles) OR if you have been involved in any transactions with Conlon.
