Bourne’s ‘Tip Jar Bandit’ Reaches Plea Agreement

BOURNE – The so-called “tip jar bandit” has come to a plea agreement in her case.

According to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office, Mary Gelsthorpe, 66, agreed to one year of pre-trial probation with restitution.

She was also ordered to stay away and have no contact with the Lobster Pot Restaurant in Bourne.

Gelsthorpe was captured on surveillance video taking money from the tip jar at the restaurant last month.

She failed to show up for her first court appearance before coming to the latest agreement in Falmouth District Court.
