ONSET – A structure fire closed Cranberry Highway in Onset Sunday evening. The two-alarm fire broke out about 8:30 p.m. at the Lakeside Mobile Home Park at 3030 Cranberry Highway (Routes 6/28). Bourne Firefighters were called to the scene to assist. Three trailers were reported involved and at one point a propane tank reportedly exploded. There were no reports of injuries but the Red Cross is assisting 8 people left homeless by the blaze with temporary shelter. Firefighters had to run hoses across the busy four-lane highway which prompted the shutdown. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
