VIDEO: Driver trapped after car vs tree in Dennis

DENNIS – Firefighters had to extricate the victim of a car vs tree crash in Dennis using the Jaws of Life. The crash happened in the area of 59 Main Street (Route 6A) shortly after 7 PM Wednesday evening. Route 6A was closed between South Yarmouth Road and Setucket Road. Dennis Police are investigating the crash. It took firefighters an extended time to extricate the victim from the Chevy Camaro. A MedFlight helicopter was requested to Barnstable Municipal Airport to fly the victim to a Boston hospital.

Statement from Dennis Fire: At 7:14 PM the Dennis fire and police responded to a reported motor vehicle crash at 59 Main Street (Route 6A) in front of the entrance to the Cranberry Knoll Condominiums.. When fire crews arrived they found a Camaro head on into a tree. The 34 year old male driver was pinned in the car. Firefighters had to use numerous tools including the Jaws of Life to extricate the victim. Paramedics starting treating the victim in the car with advanced life support while other firefighters cut the car apart. The victim was flown to Tufts & Floating Hospital in Boston by a MedFlight helicopter with life threatening injuries. Dennis police are investigating the incident.
