Fire breaks out at house in Falmouth

FALMOUTH – Fire broke out at a home in Falmouth shortly after 6:30 PM Saturday evening. Smoke was showing from the second floor of the residence at 80 Carriage Shop Road when crews arrived. There no immediate reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters were able to quickly douse the flames.

Falmouth Fire-Rescue reports that they responded responded to a reported structure fire at 80 Carriage Shop Road in Waquoit on Saturday, March 12th at 6:43 pm. Upon arrival, personnel reported a smoke condition on the 2nd floor and located a fire in an upstairs bedroom. The occupants safely evacuated the home prior to FD arrival and the smoke detectors were operating. Personnel conducted operations to quickly confine and extinguish the fire. Mutual aid was requested from Joint Base Cape Cod, Sandwich, Bourne, Cotuit, and Onset Fire Departments, to assist on scene and for town coverage, while personnel were committed to the scene. The home sustained significant structural, smoke, and water damage. Town inspectional services were notified, and the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental at this time.
