VIDEO: Fire erupts in commercial building in downtown Chatham

CHATHAM – Fire broke out in a commercial building in Chatham early Thursday morning. The fire was reported on Kent Place to the rear of 475 Main Street about 5:45 AM. The building housed Emack and Bolio’s Ice Cream. Heavy fire was showing from the building and firefighters took a defensive stand fighting the blaze from the exterior. Harwich and Orleans firefighters assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported. Traffic was being rerouted around the scene for a time due to hoses running across Main Street. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
