SOUTH DENNIS -The Dennis Fire Department reports that heavy fire destroyed a house in South Dennis and sent one victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The department received a phone call for a house fire at 10:27 p.m. Saturday night at 58 Debbie Lane.

Firefighters arrived to find the house 75% involved with a car and a boat in the driveway burning. All occupants were out of the building and accounted for. One occupant was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and later transferred to a Boston Hospital for burns.

It took fire crews from Dennis, Brewster, and Yarmouth about two hours to completely extinguish the fire along with assistance from the Harwich Fire department who covered the town while fire operations were ongoing.

The fire appears to have started in a rear enclosed porch. Occupants stated they had a fire going in a fireplace earlier in the evening. The fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time but is being investigated by the fire department, police department and the State Fire Marshall’s office.

No injuries to firefighters were reported.
