UPDATED: Gas main struck in West Barnstable

 

Firefighters poured water into a trench where a gas main was struck in West Barnstable to keep fumes down. The force of the gas made the water “boil”

WEST BARNSTABLE – A construction crew struck a gas main in West Barnstable about 9 AM. The incident happened on Cedar Street at Homestead Lane. Fire crews deployed a hose line to keep the fumes from igniting. Homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution. National Grid crews were responding to shut off the gas and make repairs.
