COTUIT – Firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire at 960 Main Street in Cotuit. Heavy smoke was showing from the rear of the building when crews arrived around 4 p.m. Everyone made it out safely. A second-alarm was struck for additional manpower as firefighters struggled with the heat. The fire, which zppeared to have started in the basement, was quickly knocked down. Mutual aid from Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills, Sandwich, Hyannis,and West Barnstable all assisted at the scene, while Falmouth covered the Cotuit station, The cause of the fire is under investigation.
