Updated: Police say homeless man stabbed another homeless male on the Village Green in Hyannis

HYANNIS – A man was stabbed in Hyannis around 8:50 PM Thursday evening. According to reports, the incident happened on the Village Green near South and Ocean Streets. The victim was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. Barnstable Police are investigating and did take a person into custody at the scene. Further details were not immediately available.

Late Saturday morning, Barnstable Police tell Cape Wide News that when they arrived, a witness pointed out the suspect. Police identify the suspect as 32-year-old Vincent Boneli. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife). The victim, a 36-year-old male, suffered a single stab wound to the back that was not believed to be life-threatening. Police report both the suspect and victim were homeless at the time of the incident. The motive in the attack is unclear. Boneli was arraigned Friday morning in Barnstable District Court where bail was set at $2,500.
