Update: Pocasset Drowning Victim Identified

POCASSET – Bourne Fire Rescue and the Coast Guard were called to the area off Circuit Avenue for a water rescue. According to reports, a swimmer ran into trouble.

Two people went in and assisted the man to shore. CPR was performed and the victim was rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

He’s been identified by the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office at John Lima, 50,  of Lakeville. Investigators said there is nothing to indicate the drowning was anything than accidental.

The two rescuers were evaluated at the scene.

The matter remains under investigation by Bourne Police and State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office.
