EAST HARWICH – On Tuesday at approximately 6 PM, members of the Harwich Police and Fire Departments responded to a motorcycle versus tree crash at the end of Spruce Road by Walkerwoods Drive. Initial reports were that the victim was unresponsive.
Harwich Police Officers arrived on scene and located the rider approximately 10 feet in the woods at the end of Spruce Road. The rider was responsive and had sustained severe injuries.
The Harwich Fire Department requested a medical helicopter to transport the subject to an off Cape hospital. While enroute to Hyannis airport to meet the helicopter the ambulance was diverted to Cape Cod Hospital.
The driver of the motorcycle was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. The driver was identified as Christopher Butilier of Brewster. At this time the crash is under investigation by the Harwich Police Traffic Unit and the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team.
