UPDATED: Randolph man charged with OUI after multiple injury crash in Hyannis

HYANNIS – Barnstable Police report that on Saturday at about 7:00 PM, Barnstable Police responded to a report of a rear-end motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Iyannough Rd. Rte. 132 and Phinney’s Lane Hyannis. The two-car accident involved a Honda Pilot SUV carrying 7 occupants and a Nissan Altima with a single occupant.

Investigation revealed the Altima rear-ended the Pilot, causing minor neck and back injuries to 6 of the 7 passengers. The 6 were transported to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. Hyannis Fire declared a Mass Casualty Incident bringing in ambulance from Barnstable, Centerville and Cotuit.

The operator of the Altima was identified as 42-year-old Andrey Y. Malko of Randolph, who was administered standardized field sobriety tests at the scene, and ultimately placed under arrest.

Malko was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Monday on charges of Operating under the influence of liquor, Operating to endanger, and Open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
