Updated: Pedestrian struck and killed in hit & run crash in Hyannis

HYANNIS – A pedestrian was killed after reportedly being struck by a car that then left the scene. The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Pitcher’s Way at Beth Lane. The vehicle that left the scene was located a short time later not far away on Castlewood Circle.

The female victim was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital where she was pronounced dead according to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office. She was later identified as Amber Scanlon, 26, of Falmouth. Her boyfriend was treated for minor injuries.

A suspect, Sarah Allard, 31, of Hyannis was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Wednesday afternoon on charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, leaving the scene of personal injury causing death and operating unlicensed.

Allard was released on $7,500 bail with GPS monitoring. She is due back in court on October 7.
