VIDEO: Rock Harbor closed after “unexploded device” found

ORLEANS
– Orleans Police and Fire were called to Rock Harbor shortly before 11 AM after what was described as an “unexploded device” was pulled up by a fishing vessel. Orleans Police Lt. Kevin Higgins told Cape Wide News the fishing vessel snagged the item in its net. He added that it may be left over from when the military used to do practice on the old target ship in Cape Cod Bay.

Orleans Police and Fire personal secured the area until the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad and Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams arrived and secured the shell. It was then transported to the end of Rock Harbor, near the jetty and in a controlled environment, detonated.
