Updated: Two-alarm fire in Sandwich

SANDWICH – A fire went to two-alarms in Sandwich sometime after 1:30 PM Wednesday. The fire reportedly started in a clothes dryer and extended into the structure. No injuries were reported. Mutual aid from several towns was called to the scene and to cover the Sandwich station.

Statement from Sandwich Fire: On September 11, 2019 at 1:21pm, Sandwich Emergency Telecommunications Center received a call for a dryer fire at 6 Lisa Lane in East Sandwich. SFD already had 1 Ambulance out on a medical call and another returning from the hospital when this was called in. On arrival personnel found fire and smoke showing on the 2nd floor and Deputy Chief McMahon requested a 2nd alarm response.

The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes and damage was confined to the 2nd floor of the property. Damage estimated at 50K. West Barnstable, Bourne, Cotuit, Barnstable and COMM Fire sent units to the scene, while Joint Base Cape Cod, Mashpee and Bourne provided station coverage. A total of 25 FF’s responded to the scene. There were no injuries reported and the fire is under investigation by the Sandwich Fire Department.
