MARSTONS MILLS – A two-alarm fire erupted at a home in Marstons Mills sometime after 1:30 PM Tuesday. Initial reports said the fire started in a vehicle in the garage. Two vehicles were reportedly fully involved when crews arrived and a second alarm was sounded as fire engulfed the garage. The occupants safely evacuated the house

and no injuries were reported. Mutual aid from surrounding towns responded to the scene and covered the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills (COMM) stations. Firefighters were able to get the flames quickly under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Tuesday at 1:53 PM, COMM Fire received a call for a vehicle fire inside a garage attached to a residence and that the fire had extended to the home at 46 Dory Circle, Marstons Mills. A working fire assignment requested while in route to the scene following a confirmation of a structure fire by Barnstable Police Officer on scene. Upon arrival units found the garage of the home fully involved with fire and the 2 vehicles inside the garage. Homeowners were home at time of fire, and were alerted by their working smoke alarms, allowing them to safely exit the residence. Initial crews stretched multiple 1 3/4″ hose lines to extinguish the fire, establish a water supply from a fire hydrant, perform a primary search of the living area and check for fire extension inside the home. The fire did not extend to the interior of the home and damage was mostly confined to the garage. COMM Fire received help from mutual aid companies from West Barnstable, Mashpee, Barnstable, Hyannis and Cotuit fire departments. There were no injuries to the homeowner’s or responding fire crews. Damage to the home is being assessed. Units were on scene for approximately 4 hours. COMM Fire Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be the vehicle inside the garage.
