PROVINCETOWN – Two people reportedly received an electrical shock at MacMillan Wharf in Provincetown sometime after 3 PM Sunday afternoon. According to reports one of the victims received an electrical shock with enough force to send him overboard. Another person was able to quickly pull the victim out of the water but also reportedly received an electrical shock. The first victim, reported to be an 11-year-old boy, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital by ambulance. The second victim, a man in his 20s, initially declined to go to the hospital but a couple of hours later did go. Electricians could be seen working on the electrical service which was cordoned off by yellow caution tape.
It is a long time tradition for local kids to dive off the wharf sometimes asking tourists to “chuck a coin over” so they can dive and retrieve it.
The town electrical inspector was called to the scene as an investigation got underway and there is reportedly surveillance video of the incident as well.
