Cape Cod Officers Honored in Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon was honored posthumously this past weekend in Washington as part of National Police Week.

Gannon was killed in the line of duty just over one year ago. He was serving a warrant in Marstons Mills at the time.

Gannon’s wife, Dara Gannon, and others from the YPD, arrived in Washington on Sunday on bikes as part of the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund Police Unity Tour.

Sgt. Gannon’s name is now permanently embedded on the wall of the National Law Enforcement Memorial.

Members of the Barnstable Police Department, the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Motor Unit and other Cape Cod Law Enforcement Agencies were in attendance.

Falmouth Police Officers Donald DeMiranda and Ryan Moore were also honored this past weekend.

Both were shot and injured in the line of duty last summer while responding to a disturbance.
