COTUIT – Around 7 p.m. Tuesday evening Cotuit firefighters responded to an incident at Lovells Pond in Santuit where a Honda Civic with three persons on board had mechanical problems and rolled into the pond.
The car was submerged up to the roof. All occupants escaped unharmed and refused medical treatment.
Absorbent materials were put in the water to contain the gas and oil that had leaked from the car.
The incident is being investigated by the Barnstable Police Department and the Barnstable Natural Resources Department.
