ORLEANS – An SUV struck a utility pole and rolled on its side in Orleans just after 2 PM Wednesday. The crash happened at the intersection of Routes 28 and 39 abd Quanset Road. The driver of the Jeep Commander was able to get out of the vehicle and was evaluated. The crash is under investigation by Orleans Police. Traffic was tied up in the area while the scene was worked.
The 17-year-old driver reportedly said she was on Route 28 traveling thru the intersection when a vehicle failed to yield causing her to go off the road. Wearing her seat belt likely saved her from serious injuries.
