SANDWICH
– The Sandwich Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Tyler Drive about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon when a vehicle struck the “Ice Cream Sandwich” ice cream shop. Edward Lavoie, 84, of Fall River, was traveling in a Mercury Grand Marquis on Tyler Drive when he apparently lost control and collided with the building. Both Lavoie and his passenger were uninjured.

Although there were employees in the building at the time of the crash, no one inside was injured. The Sandwich Building Department and Sandwich Electrical Inspector responded to the incident. It was determined the damage was minor and the building is structurally sound.

The Ice Cream Sandwich was closed for approximately one hour and has since reopened for business.

At this time charges have not been determined.
