Car vs pole in Wellfleet

we072015bWELLFLEET – On Monday at approximately 1:14 a.m. the Wellfleet Police and Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Gross Hill Road in the area of Gross Hill Woods. Upon arrival the first responders observed a red Dodge Caravan against a snapped utility pole. The pole was leaning across the passenger side of the vehicle and across the roadway. Laura Wanamaker, 21, of Harwich was located outside the vehicle and identified as the operator of the vehicle.

Laura Wanamaker stated that she was following a friend in a different vehicle when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the utility pole. Based upon the officer’s investigation Wanamaker was issued a citation for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes and speed greater reasonable and proper.

Gross Hill Road in the area of Gross Hill Woods remains closed as Verizon and Eversource work on replacing the damaged utility pole.
