CERT training offered in Yarmouth

From Yarmouth CERT: The Yarmouth-Dennis (YD) Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) announces a 6-session CERT training class starting January 7, 2019. Topics covered include emergency prep, CERT, fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster medical and psychological, and terrorism.

For anyone looking for an opportunity to get more involved in their community’s emergency preparedness and response activities, the training opens up the option of becoming a volunteer member of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Classes will be held at the Yarmouth Police Department from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. on January 7, January 9, January 16, January 23 and January 28. The January 14 class will be held at Cape Cod CPR in South Yarmouth. (January 30 will be reserved as a snow day).

The day and location of the final exercise will be announced.

Participants must be 16 years or older and attend all classes to receive a certificate.

To apply for the training, you will need to fill out an application form and be subject to a CORI background check.

To receive an application packet, please send an email to [email protected] or pick up a packet at either the Dennis or Yarmouth Police departments.

After filling out the application materials, you can scan them and email back to [email protected] or mail to or drop off at the Yarmouth Fire Department, 96 Old Main St, South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
