Charges pending after morning rollover crash in Falmouth

FALMOUTH
– On Sunday at approximately 6:32 AM, Falmouth Police and Fire responded to the report of a Motor Vehicle Roll Over Crash with injury at the intersecting roads of Central Avenue and Menauhant Road in East Falmouth. Further reports were that the male operator was trapped inside of the vehicle. Prior to Police/EMS arrival the Male would self-extricate from the MV.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Black 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling south on Central Avenue failed to negotiate the 90 degree turn onto Menauhant Road. The Jeep would leave the roadway traveling onto the beach sand striking a warning sign and a utility guide wire support pole and then rolling over onto its roof approximately 100 feet from the edge of Menauhant Road. The impact with the guide wire support pole resulted in secondary power lines being severed and coiling north along Central Ave. Eversource responded to the scene and turned off power effecting area homes along Menauhant Road.

The male operator, a 48-year-old East Falmouth resident, was alone in the vehicle and was transported by FFRD to the Falmouth Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Based upon the crash investigation the operator will be cited for motor vehicle violations.
