Child bicyclist airlifted after being struck by car in Bourne

BOURNE – Bourne Police report that at approximately 6:11 p.m. Monday police officers along with Bourne Fire paramedics responded to Yearling Run Road in Bourne for a motor-vehicle crash involving a juvenile on a bicycle.

A preliminary investigation of the crash indicated the juvenile was traveling down a slightly sloped driveway at a high rate of speed and failed to slow when entering the roadway at the end of the driveway.

A 2015 Jeep Patriot operated by a 31-year-old female from Plymouth was passing the driveway and collided with the bicycle. Although injuries were believed to be minor, the child was flown by MedFlight to Tufts Medical Center in Boston as a precaution. The vehicle sustained minor dent damage to the passenger’s side wheel well. The vehicle operator was determined to not be at fault.
